The Beautiful Blue Hour - for a little more depth and mood
Most people think about the "Golden Hour" (the hour before sunset) when it comes to outdoor photography. However, not many people are familiar with the "Blue Hour".
The Blue Hour is the period of twilight just as the sun has set. For my photography, a Blue Hour session usually takes place on the beach, where we can enjoy as much light as possible. I start approx 15 minutes before sunset and I continue for as long as I can i.e. until my camera tells me to stop (through lack of light as I don't use off-camera flash).
Once I have captured the light and airy images during the last few minutes of golden hour, as the sun dips below the horizon, the light takes on a completely different mood. The golden hue turns to different shades of orange, blue and purple, the shadows begin to creep in and so does the grain (I love grain).
This time of the evening is all about mood, love and deep connections.
Please have a look at these highlights from a recent Blue Hour session. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this session. Everything about it was perfection in my eyes.
If you're interested in capturing some moments with me, please get in touch.
Karen xoxo
